Our Story
How it all began...
Katerina and Nikos had been running a restaurant on the island for many years. Their delicious Greek cuisine attracted both tourists and local residents. In 2015, moved by compassion, they decided to dedicate themselves to helping refugees instead. They transformed their former restaurant into Home for All. They kept cooking. Anyone in need could count on receiving a free meal there.
Since 2019, Katerina and Nikos have been supported by the Polish humanitarian organization Dobra Fabryka. Together, we took a step further. Not only a kitchen and meals for the most vulnerable anymore. On the Greek island of Lesvos, we established a vegetable garden – Home Village – which provides employment for residents of the largest refugee camp in Europe. By engaging them in work, we want to show their true face. To show that they did not come here to push their way in and do nothing. They want to work, they want to learn, to become self-reliant, independent, and to provide safety for their families.

We press Nika olive oil
Meet the people who know every tree in our grove
Onur
He is a Kurd from Turkey. For over ten years he has not had the chance to meet his family. In the Home for All project, he found a sense of closeness and a new community, and in the camp fate brought him together with his future wife – a Syrian woman. At Home Village, he finds the greatest satisfaction working in the garden, where he discovers peace and meaning in everyday life.
James Kingsley Tullah
He comes from Sierra Leone. He has an exceptional talent for running – in competitions organized on Lesvos he never leaves the podium. His passion for running has become not only a form of self-expression but also a source of strength and motivation in his new reality.
Mustafa
He came to the island from Sudan. When he asked to be taken to a local football team’s training, many thought it was just a casual hobby. It quickly turned out, however, that he has extraordinary talent – today he is one of the best players on the team and a true source of pride for his squad.

Learn more about NIKA olive oil
Unique olive varieties
The Kolovi (endemic) and Adramytiani (brought from Anatolia, now unique to Lesvos) olive varieties grow on the island of Lesvos in harsh, mountainous conditions – poor soil, strong winds, and limited access to water. These stressful conditions stimulate the trees to produce higher levels of health-promoting polyphenols, resulting in an olive oil with an intense, complex profile and proven antioxidant properties.
The health benefits of polyphenols
Olive oils with a high polyphenol content, especially those above 250 mg/kg (NIKA contains at least 750 mg/kg!), show strong antioxidant properties – helping to neutralize oxidative stress in the body. Compounds such as oleocanthal and hydroxytyrosol are being extensively studied for their role in protecting the cardiovascular system and reducing inflammation. Regular consumption of high-polyphenol olive oil can be an important part of a balanced diet that supports overall health and well-being.
Guaranteed single-origin olives
Each bottle of our olive oil comes with a guarantee of full traceability – from the tree to the final product. The olives come exclusively from our own groves, and the entire process takes place under our direct supervision. There is no room for additives, blends, or raw material from unknown sources – the declared varieties are exactly what you will find inside.
How the harvest process shapes NIKA’s quality
We harvest only healthy, young olives by hand and with mechanical methods, minimizing the risk of damage and oxidation. The harvest is carried out quickly and selectively. Such olives do not yield much oil, but thanks to this careful selection our olive oil is exceptionally rich in polyphenols. The fruit reaches the mill within a maximum of 6 hours – preserving freshness and ensuring a high polyphenol content.
